CDB (Bolt-on) and CDB (Ad-hoc) switchover test

I loaded an Ad-Hoc 500Mb bundle last month on the 28th/29th, using about 50Mb ... this was on top of my Bolt-on 500Mb.

Obviously with the new month kicking in, data usage went over to my 500Mb Bolt-on for Feb, with the Ad-hoc still having about 450Mb data left.

So, by tomorrow or the day after, my Bolt-on will be depleted, and it should switch over to the Ad-hoc that is still active till the 27th/28th of Feb, with 450Mb available.

Would be interesting to see if this transition will be as smooth as I expect. Will keep you guys posted

Should work fine, I have tested this scenario several times (buying 20 and 50 MB bundles to prove a point) and raised my concerns on various threads as well as with people at VC as to the inherent unfairness of the sequencing of bundle consumption. Particularly if you only use adhocs, like I do, and buy in plenty of time to avoid going OOB, (and then December late billing happens and I get nailed with R-LOTS )then you lose the remainder of old bundles if they expire before you finish your newer bundles.
That said, it is still better than buying 500MB on the 29th and then not being able to get a connection because everyone else is busy trying to "eat what they bought"

No a question: Will it switch over to the Ad-hoc even if I remain connected? during the delay period on the billing side (the 3 hours or so), will it now not take the data OOB, instead of from the Ad-Hoc bundle sitting idle?

EDIT: Ok, Vodacom's data system passed the test. My data usage is now being deducted from the Ad-hoc remainder from last month I didn't want to take a chance though, so I was disconnected for about an hour for their systems to catch up
