Hi does anyone know how long a cdr can last before it fades ? I have an audio cd that i have burnt about seven years ago that is still working perfectly ( i did make a recent backup of it just in case ) what i would like to know is how long will it last before it fades (considering it is an unbranded cheap cd that's lasted this long)

these things are so random bru .... I also have some ancient ones that still just get on with it but I also have had ones that bomb after a few months. So ja, just backup and let it ride

Like Mephisto said, it tends to be random. I've had disks rot after many years of use, others die less than a year later. Some name brands, others el-cheapo's. All in all, I guess Verbatim has held out the best so far, followed by TDK. Dysan didn't work out all that well.
