CD's dont work in dvd drive anymore

last night i changed cpu's and this morning the cd's wont work in my drive.I tried to boot a cd as first boot device and it just jumped to my os selection..meaning dont work

I checked all cables and all is in order.i took the drive out reinstalled it,upgraded the bios/updated drivers/reinstalled windows 7 and vista...etcok ok ok a bit extreme to reinstall the os,actually just gave it a touch up
So the next step is to install xp and see what happens.i will also try a ubuntu live cd and see if i get any response.
The drive is not really old...maybe errr 8 months old.
Anyone have any suggestions.

Get the drive changed for a new one... if its around 8 months old, it will be under warranty...

Also try it out in another pc

if it's a samsung make then u are screwed.

Ok the drive can read original cd..but blanks it will not read and stuff copied on blanks also wont read.what now..What can be the problem.
