Hi Guys (and Gals)

I have been toying with idea of having either Thermguard or Eco-Insulation blown into the ceiling.
Our home tends to get very hot in summer and cold in winter.
I have read all the testimonials on the sites, but I would like to hear from people who actually have the either of the products installed and can share some first-hand info.
Does it really make such a big difference in summer?
Did you mark any electrical boxes in the ceiling for ease of finding then again etc.

This is a lot of money for us and I would value to "real" feedback.

Thanks

It works but rats love it! Once one of them knows about it they fetch the rest of the family...

I can't vouch for the products you mentioned, but I recently placed Aerolite 135mm into my ceiling. What a difference! I walk into the house on a hot day, and I can instantly feel the temperature difference.

I will probably supplement this with air-conditioning at some stage. Given that the house is nicely insulated, the cold air won't escape so easily, thus the cost of running an air conditioner will be reduced as well.

I've had the 100mm Thermguard done in 2010.

Don't think it has made much difference.
Good door and window insulation is possibly a better investment.

I didn't do any markings in the ceiling, just move it around as you need and then move back.
Geyser burst, the insulation slowed the progress of the water in the ceiling - which was helpful.
I didn't do scientific tests so I'm not much help. One would need to check outside and inside temperatures at points in the home that should be most affected by the insulation, b4 and after installation to know if it really helped.

Installation was quick.
And note where they put in their blowing pipes through the roof, as when your roof starts leaking, they need to repair. Or just refuse tile removal altogether on the quote. But that would slow their installation significantly.

Good luck. tell us if you do proper tests.

I went with 145mm Isotherm. Made a noticeable difference. Helps abit with noise too. Just remember, this doesnt remove the need to heat or cool a room when there are temperature extremes.
Looking to get Enerlogic window film now, but none of the agents bother calling back.

The blow-in stuff is a mess though and can get damaged - I would rather get the Isotherm.
If you don't self-install, compare with Aerolite. (I've been self-installing for a few years - still busy)
