this seems to be a decent deal?
http://www.cellc.co.za/cell-phone-deals/prepaid/cell-c-giga-on-giga-100
lasts for a year, so if u use about 20Gb pm, it could last about 5months, ave R500pm for 20Gb (R25/Gb connecton included)... not bad compared to ADSL?
I NEED to get away from ADSL before i go rip out the Telkom cable outside, coz of Telkom's k@k service.

of course it depends on Cell C speeds... but it wouldnt be hard to beat this frigin ADSL line i have that keeps dying and Telkom refusing to fix it.

according to Cell C coverage map i 'should' have good HSPA signal.
worth a try to test

i guess its similar to Afrihost mobile R497pm for 20Gb (10+10Gb)... as long as the double data lasts

Cellc might not have the best connection. You might actually want to test it first.

In general you will be better off replacing ADSL with a LTE connection. It just works much better. Faster speeds, less congestion.low ping times and way faster upload speeds.

This is where Cellc will not be able to compete with the likes of MTN, Vodacom or Telkom Mobile.

With Cellc you will be competing for bandwidth during peak times as people use the internet on their phones and stuff. Trust me it can get slow and since you are in PTA I bet there will be a lot of people on the tower you are going to use.

I think the 200GB deal for R1799 is much better if you don't mind having to use the data in the early hours of the day.

Agree, this Giga 200 is an excellent deal, when you live or move in an area with acceptable connections and speed. I am already on the third prepaid SIM with Giga 200. Got the last two for R 999 on a special @ Makro in April somewhere. Micro SIM, but fits with an adapter in your standard USB modem.

I only bought one Giga 200 earlier this year. I'm fortunate to live in a town where my Cell C speed and coverage is ever better than that of Vodacom and MTN.

That R999 deal is pretty good, whish we had a Makro close by.

I had the Giga 100 Cell C package that came bundled with the LTE USB dongle, and LTE enabled on the package.

Worked ok, except that in month 10 the number got recycled and allocated to someone else and I lost the remainder of the data (around 40GB). After some fighting I managed to get some of it back again (thanks to the Cell C rep DM from here).

It happened to other people here too, even though the sim was always in a device and connected. So, in my experience just be careful with Cell C and things that are valid for a long time.

well, just did a quick test here in my room... signal not te best, only 2 bars... but still get HSPA+, and speedtest shows >5Mbps down, >1Mbps up, with 46ms ping.
can work as ADSL replacement
its not the >22Mbps i get with Voda LTE, but for cheaper basic connection just for browsing etc, i can let this unreliable ADSL line gtfo.
next step is to move the router around the house, see if there are better spots.... i'm guessing living room might have less obstruction to the tower

There's many areas where CellC is better.

Where I stay, I have virtually no reception on Vodacom, and only EDGE on MTN. CellC is full HSPA+.

Indeed there are like on my Grandparents farm. 13Mbps download speed with Cellc full signal the tower the 3 networks are sharing is on top of the hill. MTN and Vodacom just have EDGE because it is a rural area. So there are places but in general Cellc is suffering in the highly populated areas like where I am staying. Damn I really feel sorry for the tower if I have to count how many people and the large area is serves even the MTN tower is suffering with max 2Mbps BUT it has LTE too which is fast where Cellc's 3G is non existant. My whatsapp just says connecting the whole time. Calls can't be made too like during peak time from 6pm-9pm...
