Cell C coverage - check on phone?

Anyway to check on either a Bold or Torch if I'd get signal at a location?

I've seen a place and haven't negotiated a price - so don't want to whip out my netbook/dongle to make it seem I'm too interested :/

If I do a manual scan on the phone - and see Cell C 2G X ... Am I guarenteed no HSPA+ signal?

Just tried mine and moms place and get Cell C 3G X and Cell C 2G X :/

If you have a Cell C sim in the phone, register with your phone on the 3G network.
Most phones don't give more than the 5 possible bars of signal. (My SGS though does give dBm's under About phone but it doesn't update very fast) To get an idea of the signal strength, cramp the phone between the thickest parts of your legs and put your hands over and under it to kill most of the signal. Then quickly rip it out and check the signal. If you still have a few bars then the signal is very good in your area and coverage indoors will also not be a problem unless you are really living in a metal cage.
