I bought a MF-10 router from Cell-C Centurion early January. It worked perfect for exactly 7 days, so on the 8th day I took it in and told them I want it replaced. They told me since it passed 7 days, they HAVE to send it in for repairs. I told the head of the technical section (Vincent), that is not CPA stipulation, and he told me it's Cell-C's policy! So I reluctantly handed in the modem. Fast forward 2 and a half weeks later, some calls from Cell-C (after logging a complaint on GetClosure) and still no joy. They've had my router for twice as long as I've owned it, and I'm still no closer to a refund, which is all I want at this stage. I've mentioned CPA and my 'supposed' new rights on numerous occasions, still nothing, no refund, no replaced/repaired router ... just lots of frustration. So much for the CPA going to help ...

People expect to much of the CPA. They have heard a few things here and there and think they know it all. The CPA is not ment to chase companies away and out of business. It makes a clear difference between a reseller of some product and the manufacturer. But the worst part is, very poor enforcing by the non existent a authority (as with any other law/agreement/act in anarchic South Africa of today). You know in South Africa there is a (traffic) law to the tune - one should not drive faster then 60kmh in a buildup area or you should not talk on a cellphone while driving :D CPA WTF

I think you can get a refund if the product is broken within 6 months of buying it

As far as I know Cellular providers has been given an extension to comply. Why I don't know... They've had months to comply. Hope this changes soon
