Cell C Fast 3G on iPad

Yes apparently they do stock the micro sim cards of a little extra. Yes you get full 3G support on the Cell C network with the iPad 2, but only edge with the iPad 1.

Otherwise just cut up a Cell C SIM, it's not too hard and works perfectly. I'm pretty clumsy and I did it.

Or get a MiFi / Small 3G router and WiFi the iPad 1 or 2 to the 3G router.

The iPad is in any case not that mobile (cannot carry it in your "jean pant"), so keep the 3G router / Mifi in the same bag. Then you can use the same SIM in a phone etc.

Just make sure that mifi supports the higher speeds, and that your gps/location services still works without a sim installed (ipad 3g models uses assisted gps which relies on cell phone networks)

I've bought the 2gb package de my iPad 2. The only reason is to ensure that I have access to dropbox where ever I am. I get better speed with my iPad 2 then with my E1820.

Regarding the microsim. You need to do a sim swap and it costs about R100 more

I tried cutting up a cell C sim to put in an ipad 1 and it didint work..... :(
Yes it will only connect with EDGE on the iPad 1, because it doesn't support 900Mhz 3G. It works great in the iPad 2.

the ipad is not even picking the sim up... and i took a lot of care not to damage the "chip" part of the card.... will be going in to the istore over the weekend to get a another sim and data package.

Damn that sucks, I've cut two micro sims and they worked great. Here's the instructions that I followed:
http://www.solutios.com/simcutting/
Basically align the wires on it with another micro-sim. It's not about not cutting the chip, but just about aligning the wires. You will cut a small sliver of the chip away.

Hi, will the ipad 1 pickup 3G with the current 8.ta 10gig special (sim)

You mean if I cut the normal cell c sim card and make it micro sim then I can get full 3G network? I also using iPad1 and I am connecting with edge network and it is too slow. How can I get full 3G network on my ipad1 ?
Please help

You can't, because Cell C works with the 900 MHz frequency and the iPad 1 doesn't support 900 UMTS, only the iPad 2.

You can only get EDGE on the iPad 1 with Cell C.
