I have been a Afrihost customer for years and this doesn't mean S&^T to afrihost. I went for the fixed wireless deal and is probably the worst mistake ever.

since day one this router has been dropping signal and afrihost keep on shifting the blame. they are telling me that cell c is dropping the signal every hour. How can you watch something or work when a signal drops every time. I asked the agent if this will be like tis forever and he could'nt even answer me. I have been sitting with this issue for a month and still does it. Even cancelled my ADSL out of excitement but i am learning the hard way.

I have complained about this since day one and i am thinking of cancelling this product and will refuse to pay the R999 fee. I have all the proof to give if it must go the legal route as I personally think it is an inferior product and the CPA will support me in this as a dissatisfied customer.

WARNING : DONOT GO FOR AFRIHOST!!!

It's not an Afrihost problem, it's a Cell C problem, Afrihost and other ISP's are merely resellers. The only thing Afrihost can do is send feedback to Cell C after that it's up to Cell C to sort the problem.

Remember it's a wireless service so there is always going to be inconsistencies with signal, speed and connection.

What APN are you using?

Hi

I was always using the internet APN until they requested I change to afrihost.

Still doing the same thing

Tested both APN's seems the afrihost is faster

This is something that we are working on with Cell C, can I ask that you switch the APN on your WiFi router to Afrihost.

So you just need to set the name and APN fields to Afrihost. That should help significantly with the stability of the connection.

Have you tried this APN?

It should perform similarly if it's a Cell C Fixed Wireless package.

Serious!!! I'm gonna check out their prices as I need to make a change. Been with AH for years.

I am so sorry that you are considering going down this route, but when it comes to the type of issue you are having it will have something to do with where you are and your location and this is something I am more than willing to help you sort. Moving to another ISP will not sort this out as they are in the same position as us with regards to being resellers.

I noticed that the CellC Fixed wireless only works on the 4G network, if the signal drops to 3G or anything else. it drops the signal completely.

Unfortunately yes, CellC Fixed Wireless only works on the 4G network, it cannot operate on 3G.

Afrihost poor service.

Hi. I have the same problems with regards to Afrihost.

There is no point in having a wireless contract if it is not stable. Stick to cable.
If anyone out there has a contact within Afrihost please let me know. I have been trying to return my router and cancel my contract but the service agents will not allow me to speak to anyone above. I cannot even have direct contact with a service technician. I would firmly advise against using Afrihost/Cell C. Pay a bit more and get the real deal.
A note to the Afrihost reps. Instead of typing lame excuses as replies why don`t you contact the complainants directly. We use this forum because we do not get satisfactory service from you in the first place and have no other way of warning others, against your poor services.

I 100% agree with you. @AfriNatic and @cellc responds on the forum occasionally, with nice words and no action. I logged 2 or 3 tickets with Afrihost, autoresponder mail comes back as high priority/critical.. and today I got my 1st response after a week where the support consultant was adressing my RAIN issue.. guess what, I don't have RAIN.. FML

Please let us know if/how you managed to cancel and return your router so that we can follow the same path.

:( I'm really sorry for the poor experience that you've had. Your connection should be stable for the most part.

Can you please Inbox me your details so that I can check what's going on.

You can cancel your package in the ClientZone by going to Connectivity, selecting your Fixed Wireless package and then going to Edit Package.

If your package is less than 6-months old there will be a R999 cancellation fee for the hardware. It is not possible to return the WiFi router if it is not sealed in the box. :(

You need to move to RAIN.

Our Fixed Wireless Clients do have the option to migrate to either the Cell C or RAIN network from the ClientZone. By going to Connectivity, selecting your Fixed Wireless and then choosing the Migrate option.
