Congested

Hey guys I was wondering if someone can help me out, seeing that Cell C’s customer support is so useless. I’ve been having the problem of connecting to the GPRS to go on mxit or use anything related to GPRS but fail horribly during peak hours anything between 5pm-11pm(or most of the time).
When i phoned Cell C (084140) i waited for an hour and after that i got a monkey on the phone unable to help me. He said their gprs is Congested, Congested for the last 3 months?Wth...

Now my questions are:
1. I’ve got the Nokia N70 (supposed to be EDGE compatible) but I don’t pick up EDGE, does Cell C offer EDGE ?
2. Why can’t I connect to mxit during these hours, if I connect it just logs in and cant do anything after that…
3. Any settings I can use to fix my lag/connection problems … or at least connect to edge… ?

Thanks in advance…

Well they might just be right.Virgin mobile who we know is run on cell c has being giving alot of problems with the pc internet i found i could go to wikipid but not facebook or even google.well the news about so called mxit being free on these network is out so no wonder they having internet trafic..about not getting edge on your phone i know the motorola v360 which does have edge, cant pick it up.so it has to do something with the type of edge your phone has.I think thou most newer phones do support cell c edge.

Might be that your phone is partially responsible. While waiting for DSL, we've been using GPRS via cellphone. We started by using my old N70 and it was horrible --- random disconnects, can't connect 'cause no dial tone, DL speeds of ~2-300 bytes/second for hours on end. I always thought it was just the Virgin/Cell C network that was the problem, but a few days ago we switched to a Nokia 6300 and since then it's been much, much better. IMHO (and not just for this reason) the N70 is a piece of crap.

I don't think the phone would make a difference as I don't think the phone just decides not to work during 5pm-11pm each night. My problem is EXACTLY like yours same phone, same problem and at the same times each day.

I also don't think that the phone is the problem coz I also experience connection problems though I am using a Huawei E22o modem but during the day it works perfectly fine. The thing is Cell C uses Vodacom towers and in some areas you do get atleast EDGE. And calling customer care will just be a waste of time coz it will not be helpful at all. So I guess if you want to use Cell C use it during the day and settle for Vodacom or MTN for after office hours that is from 5 PM till late
