So I'm currently due for an upgrade and want to switch to eiter VC or Cell c (from EmptyN).
I've heard of a LOT of people who moved away from Cell c, because they have almost no internet reception when they are in Potch. They said that their whatsapp messages deliver after +- 10 hours. But this has been almost a year ago, and I don't know anyone who is Cell c who lives there.

I read an article a while ago (around last year November) which stated that Cell c finally installed 3G towers in Potch, so my question is, how reliable is Cell c in Potch? Is it worth taking the risk to upgrade to Cell c now, or should I play it safe and go for Vodacom, which is a bit more expensive?

I have thought about testing it on a prepaid sim card, but then I'll have to wait another 2.5 months before I can upgrade, so it would be awesome if someone could give me a good answer here! :)

Thanks in advance

I'm in Potch and the CellC service is great. When doing speedtests on my phone I usually get 1-3mbps on my 3.6mbps phone which is good enough. Was impossible to use CellC when they had only EDGE though, but those issues are long forgotten.

Vodacom sucks in Potch , MTN is also decent from my experiences.

I'm living on campus to give you an idea.

Thanks for the reply! I also live on campus, but my roommate, who was cell c last year, only had his whatsapp messages deliver max once or twice a day. I'm so glad to hear that it's better now. Looks like I'll be upgrading to Cell c :D

Thanks for the links, I checked out both and saw nothing related to Potchefstroom.

Tried the prepaid sim and it turned out to be better than MTN hehe. I'm actually getting 3G :)
