Cell C increasing prices with VAT hike

How is 1% a VAT increase considered a "hike"? Or am I missing something?

A 1% increase in VAT, and suddenly everyone seems to want to hike up pricing by like 10%.

This, CellC have not changed their prices. They've only adjusted their VAT rate from 14% to 15%.

I just curious on how they going to deal with 24 months fixed contracts
Cos I remember last year they increased their prices too and called it annual increment

First thing I will do is taking to their social media pages if the charge a single cent more then the vat increase, rounding off is fine, but charging R10 rand extra on R110 bill isn't 1% vat extra and they are literally taking greed to a new low.My monthly bill is suppose to increased with R1.5 odd a cent more then that, there will be some serious questions and cancellation.

R100 is R114. An increase of 1% is now R115 so actually it's a 0.877% increase. People don't seem to understand that VAT is already a small component and doesn't correspond directly to the end price so they view it as 15/14 which is a 7.143% increase and opportunists get away with it.

They will increase the VAT from 14 to 15%. That's it.

So to confirm... they didn't... my CellC 20/20 Fibre went form R899 to R944 pm... hardly a 1% increase from the VAT.
