Hi Everyone, I wonder if anyone can help me here.

I have the Cell C ZTE MF190 (white one) USB modem. When I plug it into my laptop, it gives me a "no service error". Basically on the original cell c dashboard, the sim card icon on top is shown in red, with the message "no service". In the Taskbar it shows the same red icon.

I have updated the software on the modem, so now the program is called "Connector" On that program I get the error "No Network".

I have deleted all network locations off my laptop, which sometimes did help.

When the modem does work, I get full signal strength, ie:UMTS connection. I am in a very good coverage area.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, on an HP Compaq 6715b laptop, with AMD Turion 64 x 2, TL-60, 2.00GHz processor.

How do I fix this problem, as I am tired of always having to put the sim card into my cell phone, and using the cell phone as a modem. The people at Nashua Mobile (my service provider) don't understand my problem, nor can they help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Escape out of the software first. Plug it out then plug it into another Usb port. Then go to my network connections and delete the one it created. My modem didn't wanted to connect for 3 weeks with nothing. Tried everything but it finally started working when I deleted the old connection it created and created a new one.
Why are you using the dash btw? You can use mdma or mwconn which is better. They're a bit plain and looks boring but the work like a charm

That won't work.

Go into Computer or My Computer and Eject the CellC Modem Virtual Cd-Rom, right click and eject. You don't even need to close the connector software.

It's a bug with the new CellC software and the ZTE MF190

Just one more tip.

If you eject the modem cd-rom and reboot, you won't need to eject it again.

Once you have a powere failure, or unplug the modem and start up again, then you may need to eject again.

I haven't had to eject it once so far this week :)

What happens if you disable the emulated CD-ROM and configure the modem device to be present when the device is inserted, as per this post?

It seems to help those using ZTE modems in wireless routers.

I'll test it during next week and let you know :)

Thank you Thank You. I converted to Cell C 3g three weeks ago. Have been unable to connect to internet - emails only. Three weeks of daily calls to Cell C resulted in ZERO help. Today I connected to the internet via MTN, found MYBROADBAND, read everything about Cell C.
Couldn't understand what the flippen' Cell C dashbord was - until a thread said only a red square was coming up when device not ready - whoa realised what the dashboard was, then read about only connecting to EDGE not 3g, saw EDGE on my dashboard, then followed this thread about ejecting the virtual CD-Rom ( who knew) and voila - my Edge changed to HSPA and my speed shot up. I LOVE this forum!!!! :)( was pretty frustrated, gloomy, hated Cell C.... before, now better...thanks) AND I'm not even slightly technologically minded!

It's a pleasure. I'm single too... so let me know if you want to hook up ;) :D :p
