Cell C microsim pricing - still a ripoff

Get a cheap sim adapter and put it back in your phone?

Do this every time I want to check how much airtime / data i have left?. A bit silly, especially if you are reaching close to your cap and don't want in to start eating into your airtime. The portal is still temp down

CellC stores currently charge R10.
Spar charges R1.50.
Some Game stores charge 50c.

Yeah not all cellc stores though. I would recommend getting them at game/spar/checkers/shoprite and just calling 140. They were so friendly and helped me with a contract sim swap very fast.

I noticed their contract callcenter is quite good. If you phone from a contract number you go to the contract callcenter but if you call from a prepaid number you go through to the prepaid callcenter.

Went to Cell C Cape Gate today to have my normal sim made into a micro-sim (I had a Vodacom one cut into a micro-sim at Vodacom free of charge - no hassle)

Cell C didnt even have a sim card cutter. So Cell C wanted to charge me R10 for a sim swop - wouldnt have minded but didnt have proof of address and ID on me - they directed me to this effing dodgy place called Digi Cafe.
For a piece of **** shop they were very busy - so owner comes to me and asks me what I need - halfway through my sentence he starts serving another customer - leaving me hanging there - then eventually came back to me - charged me R20 to cut it -
no invoice or anything so straight in the back pocket - no worry for SARS or anything.
Would really have helped if Cell C could just cut the sim themselves - just like Vodacom does. Would've at least saved me from having to go into such crap shops - a One stop shop like Vodacom is just much better.

So guys just wen to Game Richards Bay and they have Normal size, Micro and Nano on prepaid and postpaid and are selling it for only 50c each. Just a heads up cause it WAY cheaper than the cellc stores. The phone 140 to do the sim swap or just rica it to port or get a new number.

Why go to cut them? I have a SIM card (as in the credit card size thing the SIM comes in) that had a split sim, took out the mini and then I use the remaining shell to mark any normal size ones and cut them myself with a scissor.. Not going to work for a nano sim though naturally

It does actually. Even if the metal part is bigger than the nano size you can still cut. The chip is in the centre of the iron parts so if you cut some of the iron out it won't damage the sim.

@cavedog last time I went to a Game they told me they don't sale Micro/Nano sim card's was disappointed but is there any special marking that indicates the card is nano/micro

They are lying to you. They do sell it bur I don't think they keep it on the stands or those baskets of simcards.

The simcards come in the big plastic and those are standard sim sizes. You then get the small plastic pocket like simpacks that contain all 3 sizes.

Cell C Welcome Pack = Standard sim size
Micro Sim Cell C Welcome pack = Usually its the standard sim size that is breakable to a micro sim.
Nano Sim Cell C Welcome pack = Nano sim only.

Those are the prepaid sims if you need a new number or sim swap.

The ones that works with sim swaps and contracts only says Postpaid sim pack on the front. Same price but just doesn't give you a new cell c number if you wanted that. Its used for contracts or prepaid sim swaps.

Just go to the cell counter and DEMAND they go look in the back cause they DO have it. Our game said they had like 50 micro and nano sims in the back. They keep it there cause customers mistakenly buy them when they really need normal size sims.
