I am having 2 problems with my CellC modem. The first is that it conflicts with my CD/DVD writer in such a way that I cannot burn any discs. It freezes the writer so bad that rebooting does not even allow you to remove the disc. You have to power the writer down and up again. My writer is also connected via a USB port. After days of frustrating troubleshooting I discovered that if I disconnect my modem my writer works perfectly. When you put the modem back, the writer cannot be used reliably. The info that is written to the disc while the modem is connected is also garbage.

Disconnecting and connecting the modem causes the second problem – GETTING IT BACK ON LINE. It keeps giving error messages like “modem in use by another device” or “modem not found” or “cannot connect to the remote computer”. I then have to reboot and then try connecting a couple of times before the modem connects.

Tried phoning 140 and after a looooooong holding period I am told “It should work”. That helps like toothache. Anybody with suggestions?? Is there firmware updates available for the MC75 modems?

That's your problem, the usb hub can only function one at a time, you are feeding it through one usb input.Only if you instal a usb card onto you motherboard will that solve your problem,a five in one iptime usb 2.0 card cost about R89.

I have moved the writer on board using IDE. Problem solved. Thanks
