I'm on a ControlChat contract with Cell C and since midnight haven't been able to send outgoing SMS's or make calls. Apparently, there is a f*** up with their database... incorrect bundles were loaded (15th of the month is recharge day for ControlChat customers) and so they have suspended all these accounts... despite the fact that customers like myself are fully paid up and needing to use our phones on a daily basis. Go Cell C!!!

Correspondence shocking. No general SMS to inform customers what's going on. When I dial *101# (to get a balance) it merely states "There is a problem with your account. Please contact Priority Call Centre by another telephone. Thank you"

Just spoken to my service provider and it will take around 48 hours to fix.

No wonder ICASA is getting involved in getting the networks to jack up their performance.

Eish!

JB007 welcome to the club man . My daughters phone (control chat 75) hasn't had any airtime for 2 months , forget about 48 hours to sort out . I am now so pissed off that I have returned my debit orders unpaid . Perhaps that will get me a response ?

From what we've been told this does not affect all ControlChat users only those on a specific part of the system. I've been able to verify this as well, some of our customers ControlChat's are fine and unaffected, and a handful or affected.

It is annoying and extremely irritating but they are working on it to get it up and running ASAP.

If I hear more about the issue, I will update this thread.

Thanks for the assistance Warwick , Yeah I can vouch for what you are saying as well . My son is also on Control chat 75 (with no problems) but my daughter on Control chat 75 (has not had airtime loaded) since the 9th April .
Still nobody can give me an explanation .

“Although their service was only interrupted temporarily, They are acknowledge and apologize for the inconvenience caused. They would like to assure our customers that Cell C’s network, provided by Nokia Siemens Networks (one of the top 3 telecommunications infrastructure providers globally) employs and delivers only the highest, state-of-the-art technology to ensure that each and every Cell C customer has access to the very best telecommunications network service offering in the world.”

Yup, that helped a lot when I couldn't use my cellphone for two days (outgoing calls and text messages) and nobody could assist ;-)
