I convinced my wife to port to Cell C from Vodacom and now I am probably going to have to sleep on the couch.

She can make calls and send sms's but can not receive any calls or sms's. How can we sort this out?? The monkeys at customer care have been no help.

Help will be greatly appreciated!

If the port was done today, then just wait till tomorrow for the synchronisation to finalise.

She ported successfully at 9am and got the sms ' Welcome to the Cell C Family! Please recharge to activate your account.'

I transferred airtime to her from my cellphone banking earlier this evening long after the cell c sim was active and the money just 'disappeared'.

I checked my payment history and the money was sent to Vodacom!! Wtf!!

So

Porting is by no means a simple process, I had a couple of problems myself when I ported from Vodacom to MTN, but be patient and be willing make a couple of phone calls and all will be sorted.

My guess it that the Vodacom HLR has not been updated yet. Depending on the time of day and day of month it could take a couple of hours. By the time you read this post everything might be sorted

Still not working. The R60 airtime I loaded has also been lost in cyberspace.

Good grief :(

Actually... if you can't make a phone call from a Cell C sim to the ported number then the problem is probably the Cell C HLR.... But I doubt if anybody in the call center will know what that is.

Time to give them as much hell as possible.

Call the porting department at 0847678287 and ask to speak to Roy or Tony. Explain the situation.
But you must first get past the call centre agent that answers first. Just mumble lots of IT jargon about your port and they will promptly put you through.

Tried that, no luck.

NOW OVER 2 DAYS AND STILL NOT WORKING!

The call centre zombies best answer is take out the battery and reboot. WTF! Cell C this is not cool.

Did you speak to Tony or Roy? If not, you just need to get through to the "right" agent.
Else, post a complaint on Hellopeter.

I had lots of issues with my port. Persistence in complaining eventually got it sorted.

Drive me crazy... seems all call centers do the same, tell you to take our your sim and reboot. I have never encountered a problem that was fixed by this approach

Tried twice to get through to Roy or Tony but the monkey in customer care said they need to know their extension to put me through.

Technical just said they are working on it and that's all.

Still not working.

A mate of mine's mother lost her number when she tried to port to Cell C.... Sorry to say, but maybe it is time to demand a new number.

Not an option. I'm looking to port to CellC. Had my number for 10+ yrs. Fscked if I'm going to get a new one now due to some boneheads incompetence....

My fiancé had the same problem after porting from mtn. Cell c sim was faulty did a swap nd it works now.
