Cell C sale off the table

Duncan McLeod:
I think as an IT Journalist, it is very interesting to watch this sector at the moment. I think everyone is talking to everyone and anything is possible right now. If Telkom does decide to sell its 50 percent stake in Vodacom to Vodafone, then it could unleash all sorts of corporate activity in the sector and a couple of analysts are even now speculating that we could even see MTN now making a play for Telkom.

Trust you to have your finger on the pulse Duncan :D

lol. It's not that they don't want to sell it. Nobody wants CellC at any decent price. It's heavily geared, poorly positioned and has a history of optimistic forecasts. Not to mention it's constant Ebitda BS.

Plus the talk of recapitalization/bond buyback is a surefire way to make every shareholder run for cover.

I think Cell C and its shareholders can look forward to better regulation and so will want to hold on just a bit longer to see if anything comes of this.
