Hi

My tablet contract is up for renewal.

I was paying 199 p/m for a Galaxy Tab 1 7" for 200MB. Not a good deal.

So I was checking the market for an upgrade:

Cell C: Galaxy Tab 2 10" on 2Gig - R399 p/m
MTN: Galaxy Tab 2 10" on 2 Gig - R299 p/m, with 500MB at R229 and 1 Gig at R259Costing Options

Cell C: Galaxy Note 10" on 2 Gig - R449 p/m
MTN: Galaxy Note 10" on 2 Gig - R369 p/m with 500MB at R299 and 1 Gig at R329 Costing Options

What's going on?

You use to be competitive, but unfortunately you are losing me as a customer pretty soon.

Perhaps they have thrown their "loss budget" at the S4 deals to increase market share?

MTN's pricing on those devices is very keen if you consider the FNB deal is R235pm for the Tab2 10.1 and R299 for the Note 2 and both have no included data...

We were about to switch to Cell C and then MTN added the extra MB and SMS onto their contracts. Got a Anytime 350, 350mb, 350sms, and 60mins MTN to MTN free all for R249 with a phone.

Maybe tablets on CELL C network are not popular... You know the saying when they buy in bulk, they can offer the best promotion not even competitors can match the price. Just imagine CELL C matching contract prices.

Ja well.

I like competition :D BTW, trying to cancel my Cell C contract it difficult. After being on hold for 12 minutes by the 'retentions' department I gave up. But I'll keep trying. MTN has quite a sweet deal on a Sony tablet as well, at R199 p/m for 500MB and R229 p/m for 1 Gig. I might go for that, as I find that the Tablet is very much a 'toy' for me. I don't use it that often. I often look at people in amazement using iPads to do email, typing away with one finger on their touch screens and think "Why don't you just use a laptop, for goodness' sake?"

Maybe I'll have better luck on a 10" ....
