Ok, So I qualified for an upgrade back in Feb! Great!, needed a new phone, wanted an android! perfect. Call 084 145 for the upgrade. Lots of running around between them saying I don't qualify to I qualify. So I start the upgrade process. I wanted the P500.They advised me that they don't have stock even though it's advertised on their website. Got that problem sorted. lovely! So I completed the upgrade. I then start waiting for a period of 2-3 weeks. I kept calling them and they keep saying "I will get it in 2 days". Eventually, I kicked up a fuss and was advised to go to Cell C Gateway for collection of the phone! Great, Finally getting somewhere! I get to Cell C Gateway and pick up the phone! Lovely, I have my toy! WHOOOOO. It's now early March. my contract was a casual chat 100 + 250mb data x 24 months. From that point to current my data bundle has not been loaded.I have made countless and I mean countless calls to the store in Gateway for feedback with absolutely no resolution to my problem. I don't understand how they can promise to give me feedback on my query but I keep calling them back for feedback and I keep getting BS.

I received my e-statement on Friday,15 April 2011 and I have been billed R917.05. I almost fell of my chair. On my invoice I saw I am being charged for itemised billing. I then try to check my itemised billing but it doesn't come up! :mad: So then I call Cell C to query the incorrect billing+ why I am not getting a service, itemised billing, that I am paying for? Cell C can't see the itemised billing on their side, so they have to log a call to their technical division! As you can imagine, I am now pretty frustrated and angry.It gets worse! I went to the ATM on 16 April 2011 to draw some cash. Got an insufficient funds message :wtf: so I did a mini balance / statement check and I was debited R917.05. My debit order date is the 27th. this has been the case for 5-6 years! somehow they changed it to the 15th without my consent. :wtf:
my bank account balance is now in a -R400 and I have zero cash for the remainder of the month.

To say I am angry right now would be a major understatement!
Also, what are my rights WRT to the debit order bouncing? I don't even know if my bank paid the full amount and left me in a negative or paid what I had in my account.I also don't even know if there any fees applicable for being in a negative balance + returning an unpaid debit.

was the Cell C rep not able to sort u out wallsend?

He popped me a PM asking for the upgrade form. I can't find it. I asked the store in Gateway to fax it to me but guess what? I am still waiting for it so I can get back in touch with the rep.
 
cool... im pretty sure that changing the debit order date without your consent is illegal though... sucks that its f'd your finances up for the month :/

yeah it completely messed up! further to this, I did not budget for the R900 debit, which is wrong. So I was hoping to get it solved before my debit goes off on the 27th. fat chance of that happening now.
 
Is this the correct place for the thread or does it belong in the Cell C forum?
 
The public holidays screwed you over here mate, payday has shifted.

How does my pay day affect the way they debit me? I agreed to a debit on the 27th. If there is a public Holiday on the 27th They will most likely debit you the day after as has been the case for years with them. how did they get the 15th?
When I called 140 the date was set to the 15th of every month. I had to change it again!

go straight to the top man i got hold of the western cape manger and he eventually after 2 weeks they sorted it out but not after some poor service from his assistant who went on leave before sorting out my issue (so he lied to my face about sorting it out before he went on leave) then the manager lied to me and i just got poor service
i'm still not sorted after 7 months but i gave up and i was about to take out a another contract with them but cause of the lies i'm sorry how can i trust them for another 24 months x 2 contracts they can forget it i'll rather suffer but MTN as vodacom is ripping people as well i mean really now y do we get ripped like this in SA
 
So I emailed them this:
Dear Sir / Madam,

I upgraded my contract with your store on 2 March 2011. I upgraded to an LG P500 on a casual chat 100 + 250mb x 24 months at R145 per month.

Since the upgrade, I am waiting for my data of 250mb to be loaded on my sim card. To date this has not happened.

I have spoken to Sherika in your store on numerous occasions to have this problem resolved. She has not been very efficient in handling this query. She always “promises” to give me feedback on this matter but I am the person constantly calling her to enquire on her progress on resolving this issue. You are in effect breaching your half of the contract that I signed with you by failing to deliver the service that I am paying for.

I have also erroneously been debited R917.05 on the 15 April 2011 as a result of the data not being loaded. I therefore request that you investigate this matter and reverse all data charges up to 250mb. Thereafter any further charges, I will accept liability and accept the charge.

I also request that you investigate my billing charge for the month of April 2011 as I am currently using data that is not loaded. Again I request that you load my data bundle to ensure that I do not receive an incorrect statement in May.

Further to this, my contract debit order is set to the 27th of every month. Why has this been changed to the 15th without my consent? This is surely another breach of our contract agreement?

I also pay Cell C R18.86 excluding vat for an Itemised billing service. I have not received my itemised billing for February and March. Again, Surely this is a breach of our contract that I signed with you? I therefore request on this matter that an amount of R18.86 excluding vat be reversed for the month of February and you provide me with my itemised billing for March.

I am also going to be incurring fees with regards to a return debit order as you debited my account on a date that was not agreed upon. I will advise you at a later stage of these fees and I request that this amount is refunded to me.

I got a heap of calls from the store in a matter of minutes! still awaiting a resolution but they seem doing something as i am receiving alot of reference numbers via sms from them!
 
That is unfortunately the South African way...nothing happens until you light a fire under someones ass.

Also, IMO they should scrap any type of fees charged for data. Seeing as those fees wouldn't have been there had they given you the correct bundle from the start..
 
Also. Providing free Motorola Defys to everyone on this thread should make up for the psychological damage caused by reading such shocking stories.
