Firstly, my local Cell C store is utterly useless. I applied for an upgrade 2 months ago and after getting no feedback, went back to the store after 2 weeks only to find that the idiot sales rep didn't process it. Apparently they were not sure if I could upgrade to the new packages in the 22nd month. Fine, I asked them to find out and went back after a week only to be told they still not sure. I tried for a third time after a few weeks and still got no joy.

During this week I "applied" on the website by choosing my contract and leaving my details. Within 2 hours a representative phoned me, confirmed my package and personal details, read out the terms and conditions and did the upgrade. I didn't want a phone, just a R100 month to month contract. While on the phone I received a confirmation sms and I was surprised when the rep told me that the upgrade was done and already activated. Immediately after the call I checked my balance, and there it was: 40 min, 40sms, 40 MB (middle of month). So, the entire process took less than 5 minutes. I think that's excellent service. Well done Cell C, but please get your stores up to speed.

Some of the sales staff at the CellC stores are just pretty faces. My friend is a big CellC fan and I went along with him to the Kenilworth Centre (Cape Town) branch. He had previously called and asked whether a particular Nokia was in stock. So we asked for the lady concerned and he asked to see the phone. Straight away some guy behind her said "we don't stock that one" so he said that Sharhira (?) had said this one was available that day. He repeated it, so we told him we would deal with her. He said he was the store manager and if there was something to know, he would provide it. We walked out straight away. No-one was interested.

He eventually bought the phone from a different shop in Century City. Zero marks for CellC KC

I also had a weird experience at my local store in Shelly Beach, where a contact that was advertised i.e screaming from the live boards and leaflets had suddenly moved to Red Bull Mobile while I was standing in the store..I eventually had to choose another phone..Oh, yes and this was all while the friendly sales rep consulted with the MANAGER..weird

use cellc direct. its one call of around 5 minutes and thats it. and you dont have to pay sim and connection fee's. got a lot of contracts and that how we do it. huzzle free...
