Hi Guys

A little bit of history: Every month I notice these data charges creeping into my cellphone bill. I have a BIS package through Cell C on an 8520 phone. The first bills were R50, then R57, now R117. What I have noticed is that the phones BIS indicator goes from EDGE to edge which indicates it's not in a BIS zone and standard data rates apply.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I requested last week Tuesday to have my WAP APN removed so that I can only access the internet via BIS. This will prevent these suprise bills popping up. A week later and still no joy. How hard can it be for Cell C to remove WAP access that I do not want? Anyone else had a similar experience?

1. Make sure the Default Browser is set to "Internet Browser"
2. Make sure you are not using the WAP browser on the homescreen to browse. When browser is open it should have "Internet Browser" in top left.
3. Check and ensure that all third party apps are set to BIS-B in their options. RIM developed apps will use this by default.
4. TCP/IP settings under Advanced Options should be left blank. Never enter anything here. Leave de-selected if there is a tick option.

Hi Guys

Shot for the replies. 2 weeks later and they are still removing my WAP APN. How can customer service take this long? This morning I got a message to say that the WAP was disconnected so I opened the WAP browser and I could still browse. So I logged the query again today.

At the same time, Nashua Mobile is querying with Cell C as to how come there is a data charge of R117 on our edge blackberry line and why the 3g phone had a 57 cents internet charge. It is beyond me, this after requesting that Nashua Mobile puts a block of R50 on my account and they exceeded this but that I'll tackle that issue after they've sorted out the WAP issue.

^ Nashua Mobile is most likely to blame...

I wouldn't go so far to say that Nashua Mobile is at fault with the internet billing charge. They have put in a query with cell c, and I've even lodged my own query with cell c about doing a simple WAP APN removal. Where Nashua Mobile is at fault is for exceeding the call limit block that I put on my account. Seriously, how hard can it be? Of course Cell C wouldn't want to do this quickly for me, we've just signed 2 new contracts and they can milk me for 2 years.
