Hi,

So i attended a groovy "digital" workshop, and it really got me thinking about cell-phone apps and games.

If i had a really good idea for a game / app, how does one go about finding developers / programmers / gfx artists who one could talk to about developing the idea.

I have the contacts to make it happen, all I need is the genius to code it, and the visionary to draw it.

Does a platform exist where developers / artists hang out looking for ad-hoc work?

Does this even make sense, I mean how hectic is the SA market for phone apps / games.

Dude its easier than you think. Contract guys in university in the respective fields. Believe me they work for next to nothing and if you can get the guys from 3rd or fourth year (and most of them are willing) you have quite a experienced group of coders/designers. As an added bonus they are young, and would be perfect for what you are looking for. Just post a ad on a university website or boards.

Cheers

Thanks for the heads-up...that's a decent plan.

It's an excellent plan. Towards the end of my second year of computer science at wits there was a mobile game club that ran for 2 weeks. In that time we made a basic fighter jet game complete with scrolling background, custom graphics and music. The game spawned multiple versions as everyone could not stop tinkering with it even though the final exams were approaching. You'll probably find at least two dozen people that would do it just for fun, and so that they can show fellow students how l33t they are.
