Cell phone insurance

I'm looking to buy my son a cell phone for xmas. Would i be able to insure his phone? Will it be covered if the phone is used by some else? I currently dont have any other items insured.

Your best bet is the suppliers insurance but a word of warning is to read and understand the cover and exclusions as well as excesses applicable.
The service providers insurance is no where near the same as a traditional insurer's cover however they will not only insure a cell phone.

My opinion, purchase a hardy phone that is waterproof (there are a few from Sony, from cheap to expensive), buy a proper silicone case for it, that way the device will be tough enough to handle the wear and tear. And then finally tell your son that hes not getting another one if he loses this one.

Insurance for phones is quite expensive with all sorts of T's&C's, not worth it in my opinion.

Just add it to your existing short term policy if you have 1. Generally less T&C's if you go this route.
