Cell rape hell before wedding

I am surprised that his fiance / friends / family could not find him and bail him out. Surely they knew where he was (or where he was heading) when the incident happened.

If a loved one goes missing, do you not start calling police stations and hospitals as soon as possible?

You are assuming they did not.
Judging from the high levels of ineptness, illiteracy and general "don't give a ****" in the average government organisation, they probably just said "no not here" - if they even bothered to answer the phone.

I understand this guy was drunk and made an accident.. yeah fine arrest him.

But i was talking about all the arrests just to hold ppl these days like: "Outstanding fines" suspicion of this or that "dunkness on street"... "Talking on phone while driving" "Reckless driving(in their opinion)no one hurt"
Those types of BS, just basicly holding the person in a cell for a while without charging him

Are you allowed to tell them to bugger off?

I guess it's payback time.

We used to arrest people for being in white suburbs after nine, for crying out loud.!

Just be carefull not to get arrested in the first place.

Yeah i heard bout that in the apartheid years. My dad and his brothers ran from the police afta being near the white shops(just riding their bikes). They "raided" my grandparents home kick down the door only to find the boys running again and outrunning them lol :D

Seems hard not to get arrested these days almost like back in the day! I'm quite fast myself(genes :D) Seems i'll just run/drive/cycle as fast as i can

If you have good legs, there is hope for you! LOL!:D

The problem is not why he was arrested, where the hell were the cops?, probably fast asleep while the poor dude was gettin raped, why is there not a table in the hallway with an officer sitting there?, clearly the officers were not doing their jobs.

Ever heard of cctv? Install it! Check out the cell... Check out the cops.
No need for DNA & theories bout where the cops where.
I pay my taxes and mines enough for atleast one station, its my money do as i ask pls ;)

That is the right attitude!

Why cant the taxpayer have a right to say what should and should not be done with our tax money?

Wow.. I would not blame this man if he decides to murder the families of those inmates who raped him. Also the Wardens. I would kill them and then myself just to make things right. Its disgusting that this could happen to someone who wasn't supposed to be in there with a bunch of rapists.. Rape and traffic offense really have nothing to do with eachother..

Even if you dont get the final say.. Maybe you can just suggest on your SARS form: 50% for health pls, 30% Crime, 20% damm pothols in my street!.
Thx Travor see you this weekend 4 sum beers what do u say? Old Trav can then take the publics suggestion and put his special touch on it.

Again the police managment needs to wake up

At my Station the cells are seperate from the main building, the officers must walk out to the cells to check.

I wish they would install CCTV and microphones it would help a lot in preventing these problems.

However people will proberly then argue that this is against there human rights ie invasion of privacy

I know it is tough being a policeman.

It is also tough being a civillian.

As far as I'm concerned, when you are in the custody of the police in a cell. You don't have the right to privacy because you're stuck in a cell with 25 other people. I as a simple civilian would feel alot better knowing that cells are being monitored 24hours a day, and the events are being recorded.

When you are in custody, your freedom of movement was taken from you.

The police are responsible for you.

They are also responsible for the safety of your person.

A little bit off topic, but one of our friends went 'missing' one night. Turned out he had marital troubles and just wanted to be alone for a while. We berated him afterwards for not telling us.

Anyway, while he was still 'missing', we went to the police station in Midrand and wanted them to open a file/docket and start investigating. They gave the usual "only after 48 hours" crap and really treated us in a way that spoke of immense disinterest. The fat female officer behind the counter chewed her gum with an open mouth, turned away while I was still talking to her and generally acted as if we were just in the way and had no right to be served.

The sad part - for her - is that my boyfriend knows the SAPS Area Commissioner, called him and asked for some proper service. We ended up in the Station Commissioner's office, where this officer and two others were berated and warned in front of us, which must have been very embarassing for them.

What really worries me, is that if we did not know 'people in the right places', we would have had to endure crap service, which is what happens to most people on a daily basis. They have no-one to complain to and hence no remedy.

Off-topic fact : there are more police officers in New york city than the whole of s.a.

the police cannot be expected to baby-sit prisoners 24/7, He would have been place in a cell with other prisoners, possibly they had no empty cells to put him in by himself.

No, if the police lock you up, they are responsible for protecting you. The same with prisoners.

Hey I was Locked up before to keep well you gotta be a good talker and actor , I actually had fun in jail.

I suppose so.

Your honour depends on that.

I heard a funny the other day.

On your bum you should have a tattoo stating:'Rock Hudson was here!"

Apparently it would be enough to put any rapist off!:D

I wonder if you soil yourself, would that be a deterent from being raped by an inmate. I guess probably not.

In his case they arrested him for reckless and negligent driving, they would have also possibly taken him for a blood test.

With this sort of arrest you are held until the next available court date which would have been Monday.

The officer would open a docket and then the detective and the prosecutor would decide whether to pursue it or not.

If you are arrested you cannot refuse, they will tell you that they are arresting you for, since it is and arrest there is no need for a warrant. If you refuse to come they can and will use all reasonable force to affect the arrest.

A broken Bouwer spoke openly to Rapport about his nightmare experience that began when he was arrested on January 6 because a police officer thought he had been driving recklessly.

It would be a very very bad idea to drive off especially after they have informed you that you are under arrest.

While I am deeply sorry for this gentleman, the police cannot be expected to baby-sit prisoners 24/7, He would have been place in a cell with other prisoners, possibly they had no empty cells to put him in by himself. The officer on duty should have made hourly checks.

If there was negligence then the office responsible should be punished and Mr Bouwer should be compensated

I think that it is completely the polices responsibility to baby-sit prisoners... WTF? Hourly checks?
