I attempted to load a airtime bundle using Standard Bank internet banking as well as the Ipad application today and both times I received the invalid number error. Note that this number has been ported from Vodacom to CellC.

Is there people around here that has experienced similar problems and may have an solution which excludes paying over the counter for airtime?

How long ago did you port?
Is this the first time attempting to buy air time for Cell C?

I ported from MTN to Cell C and buy my airtime using internet banking and the mobile app (when there aren't technical errors -.-)
Not that this helps you, just saying - I ported and don't have that problem.

I ported about two years ago and I was experimenting with the prepaid options in in preparation for my grade. It is also the first time I am attempting to buy prepaid airtime. However after mulling over the problem I have come to the conclusion it is due to the fact that I have standard smartchat contract at the moment and not a topup based one.

Purchase airtime from TAKEALOT if you've a credit card and instantly you'll receive the voucher via email
That won't help OP while he's on a standard contract and not a top-up one.

The most fascinating part about that is that neither Standardbank nor CellC has responded in any form to my email queries. Apparently I am not important enough to politely tell that what I attempted to do was impossible due to my contract type.

Though being able to say buy a data bundle instead of going out of bundle might be beneficial.

Wait, you have a contract, which you post pay, and it isn't a topup contract, and you tried to load airtime to it?

What made you think it would work?

My inherent desire to press red buttons and the assumption that CellC would appreciate being paid earlier rather than later.
At least they appreciate me as a customer by allowing the money to stay in my account for a couple more days.

LOL funny, but still a fail on your end.

Finally received some feedback from CellC which confirmed my stupidity / genius and that it is not possible to load air time on a Standard contract.
