Has anyone else had a call from Cell-C claiming that you have been "pre-selected" to get a brand new Samsung *insert model number here* slider phone?

Their pitch was ridiculous. First of all she asked what phone I currently had, and how much I was paying on my contract (What!?). Then she gives her pitch about this wonderful Samsung phone I can get for FREE and all its features. All I have to pay for is the airtime.. at R145 per month for 24 months. Wow. Free huh?

Then she tells me to get a pen and paper to write down the details and tell her my desired shipping address for the product. This is after I said I already have a contract that has more than a year left on it. The cheek of it!

Eventually I just told her I do not want to pay for anything. She stopped trying to sell her lies to me after that.

I can't believe they are so arrogant and expect us to be so stupid.

Did you apply for a Virgin Credit card ?

When I applied for mine 2 years ago I had the same bloody problem for months. Expect to get a shyt load of calls ;)

I haven't applied for a Virgin Credit card. But I was with Cell-C a couple of years ago (through Autopage). I'm still with Autopage, but moved to MTN.
So basically Autopage sold my details to Cell-C? By the sounds of it, she had all the details she needed to bill me for it, she just needed my recorded confirmation.

Its sad really.

I'm with Autopage on Vodacom, and never had anything to do with cell C and I still got one of those calls from them.

I had the same call, no idea where they got my details, both my Office, Cellphone and landlne.

 They buy you entire life history off a US company which specializes in buying info and reselling it. Most of this data is very current up to a few days ago. You pay only for the info you require and unfortunately there is very little chance of stopping this practise.

I have had two such [answered] calls from CellC in the last ~30 days, my number was ported away from CellC nearly 2 years ago, and I get SMS marketing crap from CellC as well. No matter how many times I tell CellC to remove me & my number & anything else from any and all of CellC's database(s), they just keep thinking I must love all this marketing they keep doing.

Worse, is that calls from CellC come up as "no number", and I've been getting loads of calls that last for about a second and then nothing - I cannot prove it, but I believe it's either CellC - or maybe it's just Skeptik.
