My main cellphone decided to go for a swim.. long story. So I bought a Nokia 6300 off someone that did not need it. Now the problem is that the phone it network locked to CellC. Im about its 4th owner.
This is not normally a problem with me as I use CellC.. but there are things about the locking thats making me very frustrated and basically making my phone useless.
1) I live in a cellphone signal blackhole. Theres terrible signal due to geography. When my phone loses signal for an instant... I get a "Sim card rejected by network"... which you usually get if you put the wrong kinda sim card like a Vodacom one into it.
I have to reboot the phone several times a day. When I am in a good signal area I never get this problem.
2) CellC have nerfed the phone so I cant change certain settings. I want to install Mobireader on my phone but CellC`s anti-debranding security means that most applications that read my phone dont work.
Are mobile network operators still allowed to nerf phones and lock people into them?
Whats the best way to get my phone unlocked? Considering I bought it like 3rd hand and dont have any papers or anything for it.
