This eveing I recieved an sms on my CellC contract phone. As I've been dealing with some estate agents via sms recently I naturally opened the message. There was a web link in the message that when I saw I just deleted, as I'm very aware of smart phone virus's spreading like this. A few minutes later I get another sms telling me that I'm subscribed to Crash TV at R5 per day! To cancel it said send the word 'stop' in reply. Naturally I was shocked and sent 'stop' to the number, only to get the reply that I'm not subscribed anyway! I've read on Hello Peter and in other parts of these forums about this happening to Vodacom customers, well now it's happening to CellC customers too. It appears that even though people have sent the word 'stop' and got the same reply as I did they are still charged R170+ per month for something they never asked for! I've found out via Hello Peter the email address of the person at the company involved and sent her an email complaining, I've also lodged a complaint on the WASP web site. It would seem that this company Venista is making thousands if not millions of rands from unsuspecting cell phone users.
