Cellphone harassment

Whenever I receive a call and have identified it as a "marketing call" I calmly put my cellphone down on the desk and continue with whatever I was busy with. I've seen some of these calls last 5 minutes without me even holding the phone.

They stop calling me and it gives me an immense sense of satisfaction, the knowledge that they are paying through their necks for the call :-)

LOL - An most excellent suggestion, and one which I will pass around... :D

For maybe the first time in my life, I can't wait for one of these guys to phone me.

I have a little swimming school and a sign up outside with my phone numbers, as well as advertising in the local paper. I don't phone advertisers to try to sell them swimming lessons, so it burns my rear end when telesales people phone me (having taken my number from the sign or the local paper)- and the best is it is invariably when I'm driving, and when they say "can I speak to you for a minute?" and I reply "no, I'm driving" and they carry on speaking, well, they should be JAILED. Or at least tortured to death.

LOL good idea the company that calls me the most is hollard insurance I have never ever even had anything to do with hollard insurance yet they call me about everyday and sometimes more than once a day.

Hahah hollarad insurance call centre is in the same building as me , although its not my dept , I work for the Woolwich / Barclays.

Hahah man thats funny, I can give ya building address if you in Cape Town :P

Private Number call from Metropolitan???

So around 7pm I get this private number call on my cell & I answer(last time I will do that). This cow just rambles on as if she knows me & says she is phoning from Metropolitan. This is where I interrupt her & ask her who she wants to talk to - I get a lot of wrong numbers as well. She tunes me she wants to speak to me. So I ask her what my name is. She has no idea & she says she only has my cell number. I decide this is bull & hang up. She has the cheek to call me back & tell me I am rude for hanging up on her & then she hangs up on me.

Can't believe the cheek of these people trying to sell you something if they don't even know who you are!!

My wife also received a call on her cell this morning. Something about joining a "rewards" program for an initial fee of +-R200 & R60pm thereafter. For ****** sake what sort of rewards program is that!!

Could the reason be that we both upgraded our phone contracts in the last two weeks??

Another thing I noticed is that when I signed into the eXactmobile website to download the wap settings for my phone, they already had my new phone listed with my personal details. What is the connection between eXactmobile & MTN. Does Exactmobile have access to my contract details as well?

could be your bank. Did you specify to the bank that you do not want your number disclosed to 3rd parties or even subsidiaries of your bank. All i go for is the "call me if there are new products" part. The rest i just say no to cos quite frankly i dont like it when a guy tries to sell me life insurance when im busy working.
