Hi guys,

Has anyone ever tried out any of these cellphone signal boosters distributors before?
I see that even TAKEALOT and Makro are selling the Bolton WilsonPro units :-

I've been told to STAY CLEAR AWAY from the website : https://www.signalboosters.co.za/ - this is apparently an international scam website and they have scammed lots of people out of money.

https://www.myamplifiers.com/ - is also another international website which I believe might also be a scam website.

I'm thinking of getting one for my house, but I'm not sure which unit to go for yet.

Can't comment on the others but Vodascum gave our company a few of the Cel-Fi units. They seems to do the trick and basically work like a WiFi repeater. You just install the one unit close to a window and the other one inside where the coverage is poor.

They are network specific though.
 
Sold a Cel-Fi Duo to a client a year or two ago. I asked him a few days later how it is working for him and he said it works like a bomb. But it is rather expensive so not for everyone I guess.
 
Has anyone used the Bolton Technical setup? Looking to increase the quality of Vodacon calls....Often struggle with dropped calls or clients cant hear you. Or any other suggestions?

Saw this helpful review on TA
We live on a farm and have cell phones with MTN,Vodacom and CellC as providers. All 3 have bad reception here. After installing the WilsonPro A500 , signal improvided from 0 and 1 bar to 3 out of 4 bars. MTN is still worst of the 3 though. One word of caution - do not think to buy the A1000 for a home, thinking you will have stronger signal - signal only reaches further, and you will have to install the outside and inside antennas at least 30m apart ! Having it closer causes interference.

How much are you spending in the location on calls. Vodacom will install a booster in the amount spend in the area is high enough? hit them up on twitter. What do you have to loose

Its actually where I used to work...I left there almost 2 years ago and VodaCon still hasn't been there...
I also tried for a couple of years while I was there....just causes more frustration!
(R's wize probably maybe about 5k a month, with the data contracts and two or three other cell contracts and then calls on top of that)

Ideally they need to move to MTN though, the signal is pretty rubbish there with Vodacom.
 
VoWifi has pretty much negated the need for a booster. Surely it's just cheaper and easier to get yourself a phone that supports VoWifi?
 
I got the WilsonPro A1000 with a high gain antenna installed at my place (installed by MTN free of charge but it took almost a year to get it). I used to get 1 bar signal and voice calls were always unclear (sometimes dropped) but after the booster was installed I get full 4 bars and full 4G+.
 
I was under the impression that cellphone signal boosters sold by third-parties were illegal because of ICASA licensing regulations? Does anyone know what the official position is on these?

Howsit,

Jumping onto this thread a bit late. I am on a small farm just outside east london. Have tried many different internet solutions with VERY limited success. I have heard MTN sometimes come and install signal boosters where there is poor signal. How did you go about the process? R10k is a pretty penny to drop if I don't need to.
