Ever noticed that the thickness specification of a cellphone is usually for the thinnest part of the phone? For example, the Galaxy Note 3 is supposedly 8.3 mm thick, but the thickest part at the camera is about 9.4 mm thick.
The Galaxy S2's specified thickness is 8.7 mm, but a bulge at the base makes it almost 2 mm thicker!
Thickness specs for iPhones are generally accurate since they don't have any bits that stick out. In fact Apple won a
case in 2011 when it claimed that the iPhone is the thinnest smartphone in the world while Samsung used misleading tactics to compete.

So beware if thickness is an important parameter for you when you are choosing your next smartphone.

Shouldn't there be a law against this?

I can't envision an existence where a 1.1mm variance in the thickness of a phone is an important parameter to anyone. Nobody's pants should be that tight.

Have you noticed how Apple totally forgot to mention that the phone has a camera hump?
On pre-release pictures the hump was also photoshopped out?
I wonder why.

Oh no, companies bend the truth a bit on marketing sheets.. whatever shall we do?

gee i have never looked at thickness all i look at is what it will do. i will never measure what is the point?

ba dum tish

Personally i'd rather not have this trend of extra thin phones, it just means they're going to break more easily.
I'd rather have a slightly thicker phone with a bigger battery.

Does the iPhone 6/plus include the camera lens?

Apple would never use the same dastardly tactics in their advertising as Samsung did. That would be beneath them since they are the bestest most ethical company in the world.
