Hi there

Not sure if this is the right forum. I own a SME business with 2 LCR units installed - both Vodacom Talk 500. Average combined monthly spend approx. R4000.

Initial 24 months is about to expire so I contacted the LCR provider for upgrades. They sent me a list of all phones, with a maximum of R1800 per contract, the rest must be paid by me! Simple Nokia's that are listed for R3000 are free on Weekender contracts, but I have to pay in R1200 on Talk 500??? I was looking at the E90, I think you pay in almost R2700 with a new Talk500 contract. Bases on the list I received I must pay in almost R6000!

Is this another way of being screwed by what I perceive as an already expensive and murky business where details and facts are always hard to come by?

I'm thinking of just switching providers. Already have the "bloody" expensive PABX, why not change the contracts? Is it possible?

Sorry for the rant. Thanks

Go to another provider and see what offer they can come up with. The fact that you are renewing a contract; as opposed to taking out a new one does not work in your favour.

Renewing a contract should be in your favour. You are less risk to the service providor, based on a proven track record. Idiots. Typical SA mentality. Someone hire a bloody management accountant.

I would phone the retentions department, not the upgrade department, and tell them that either you get 2 E90's (or an E90 and TyTN II/N82/xxxxxx) for FREE or you're moving to "name another company". Back this up with the fact you've spent R100 000 over the last two years! (Big numbers talk, imbelish a little if you must). Try and speak to a manager or something, they have more clout when it comes to this sort of thing.
