Census 2011

Was counted today and was fine, no hassles, and actually entertaining ;) Very pleasant lady filled out our form for us.

No. Not well said.

The Census is raising Information that is none of their business. My health issues are between me and my doctor. My income is between me, my employer and SARS. They don't need to know where I work an what I do for a living. Also, with the recent threats of fines and arrests when people don't answer all the questions (http://m.news24.com/news24/SouthAfrica/News/Census-2011-Be-counted-or-jailed-20111021) it appears that the information may not as anonymized as was claimed beforehand.

The census raises more information than necessary for its purpose. To just blindly comply and trust that all will be well, is not 'growing up'. That's what sheeple do. Grown-ups are more responsible than that.

That's a bit harsh on the cadre who is trying to corner the market on hearing aids.

One week to go and the only sign I have seen of censusererers is the lot snoozing under the trees on the corner every day . Everyone I know in the area is saying the same thing too
Data for Sunninghill is going to be total horseschidt if you ask me, and I wonder how many other areas are the same

When did you get your degree in Actuarial Science?
Why don't you drive through to Stats SA and ask them why they need that info?
The Stats SA department is a very well run organisation staffed by degreed people who are experts in their field.
I happen to know several of them and these are not your typical fobbos.
They are extremely inteligent people.

The health and income related info is relevant to Service deployment and the outcome of such info can only help people across the board in SA.
The info is confidential and will only be shared with other departments on an anonymous level.
As for the info being private. They don't need that to prosecute you. The enumerator can just point at your house and tell them that guy refused to comply. The enumerator knows where you live. He's seen your house with his own eyes.
