Morning guys, I need assistance please regarding my vehicle.

Last weekend I broke my antenna while reversing out of the garage. So yesterday I decided to take
the whole antenna out from the base to attempt to fix it because my favorite radio is not playing clearly.

To take it out, I took the internal light off, the one above the driver, loosened the screws and managed to take
it out using a small spanner. I did see a small spark though when loosening it.

I then proceeded with the fix and put it back, got to the car to see if the radio is working now. The radio is not even
turning on, the little display screen is completely blank. Both lights inside the car wont turn on and so is the central locking.

I am not sure if this makes senses, but ja, I need someone that can point me in the right direction and maybe the
possible costs of the repair. Thank you.

Is it possible to know by just looking at them they're dead?

It's easier with a tester, but you may be able to see if the fuse is blown - depending on the type and rating.

Your car probably has two fuseboxes - one inside the passenger compartment and another in the engine compartment. Look at the fuse boxes and the covers (if any) and you should find a diagram showing which fuse may be suspect.

There may also be a dedicated fuse on the radio itself.

What car is it?

It is the fuse which is most probably a 10 amp fuse near the battery(depending on the car).

I have been through the exact same thing. They use the same wiring as the "door" switch position on the light for your central locking to sense when a door is open.

Its not a big deal at all. You will visibly see the contact between the pins on the fuse is broken. Use the diagram and also check the driver kick panel to see if you have any spare fuses in the holder else go to any spares shop and get one for like R2

Yes check fuses by swopping to spares.

Sometimes it's obvious that it's gone but not always.

Lesson learned, OP, next time disconnect the battery before touching anything electrical in a car.

Thank you so much for the input guys and yes, it is a lesson learned. The car is a Hyundai Getz 1.4HS.
