Hi all,

I recently started a new job in the east rand as centre manager. So far i am really enjoying it but feel as if there is more i can do as i seem to have a lot of time on my hands.

If anyone has any pointers and tips for me please be kind and let me know.

Also i have been looking online and for some reason cant find duties/responsibilites as a Centre Manager. If anyone has been in the field or a similair one please give me a break down.

Help would be greatly appreciated as this is my first BIG career line and want to build a solid future for myself.

Thanks readers. :)

Walk around the mall every few hours and look for stuff that you think could be improved. There is no real formula to it.

I would love going to a centre with the task of finding stuff that bugs me.

Oh. I know those. Go there often. Will think of stuff.

Off the top of my head, both are already pretty good. The mini-circle at the palms is THE BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER MADE. Absolute traffic bedlam trying to get in from the western side. But I suppose that is outside your jurisdiction.

Try get more people to your mall. Go to the stores in the mall to ask them to sponsor a competition. Have centre competitions. Create newsletters with shop specials. Have a senior citizen day. Easter Egg hunt etc. Be creative.

Hmm, why do you not have a monthly Senior Citizen day, where the hairdressers etc give them a big discount? You could collaborate with a specific old age home and pick them up once a month and take them around the mall for shopping etc? Have a store employer of the month competition.

Getting rid of the car guards would brighten my day. Car thieves just pay them off anyway.

All in good time but offers like that have to go through my Facility manager who there of has to go through the people ontop. Good suggestions, and have already tried promoting the idea of sidewalk/parking lot sale for the retail clothing brands which im waiting to hear confirmation of. If it goes through i'll you guys all know, if you are in the east rand side of Gauteng. We have a range from Guess, Billabong,Quicksilver,Addidas - all the smart brands you can think of that go for a fraction of the price people usually expect.

^This! ... Install booms and charge for parking rather. Seriously, there are malls in P.E. I consciously avoid if I can because of these vultures

Can you maybe say what is it you're currently doing and we can then be in a position to offer you pointers? Lots of centres go to the dogs because of poor management.

I reversed into a delivery bike outside spar, because he was parked deep in one of the customer parking bays. If I remember correctly, there is dedicated motorbike parking. Just a thought.
