Just want to pop a thread here and get some opinions vs the "advice" from my gate motor guy with regards to my gate acting up.
It's a Centurion D5, and it's had it's battery and PSU/Charger both replaced - at different times - over the passed two years. It does seem to be quite old, stickers inside on the motor itself have inspection in 2008, but the motor has always been good. The other day I noticed it would open the gate, but then not close again. It was on the way to work so I just did the manual override and left it for later. When I got the chance to do some digging I thought it may be the battery or PSU again because it was spinning up while disconnected. I checked both and they are both 100%. At this point I was scratching around trying to find anything and the only thing I did notice was when the gate opened at a certain point there was a "click" sound, I'm assuming a limit switch? However, once it passed this point it would not close again. So basically gate can open as long as it was closed, but does not close again. Relay does come in when you push the button on the remote too.
That lead me to believe that the problem was above my understanding and I don't have the time to try figure it out - hence calling the gate guy. He had a go, then phoned me to say he's never seen this problem and Centurion haven't either, because when he tried to program the gate the relays just went nuts. He then wanted to try push a complete new D5 on me. I resisted because I did some quick googling and saw you can buy the relay board loose, also Centurion don't mind if I bring it in myself and they'll do a free fault finding on it.
So, what are the odds here, faulty relay board?
