Centurion D5 sliding gate. Occassionally does not open without a push

Hi folks
Centurion D5 motor got hit by lightning last year. Had to replace board and battery. Now occasionally it will not open without pushing the gate. I don't need to push the gate WHILE it opens, just give the gate a push, release, press the remote and it opens, which is odd as the gate does not actually move at all, at least that I can tell - it has no play when it's closed. There is also no bracket that is jams into when closed.

Issue does not happen at any specific time so does not seem temperature related - can be any time of the day, and is not better or worse now in summer than it was in winter.
Also, it needs a nudge along the range of motion - if I push 90 against the rail, it does nothing, so I don't think it could be a short that reconnects with the vibration. Also It never has an issue closing, just opening.

Lift the gate up from the rail and check to see if the motor gear spins when you press the remote, I have a feeling it's some mechanical problem or debris hindering its motion.

Off of the my head:

First stab-in-the-dark is that the motor may have a starter cap that need to be replaced... (could be partially faulty).
Could also need you to clean the tracks, re-grease the gear/rails, then use Q20 into the motor.

Good Luck!

also check that the teeth on the rails on the gate where it meshes into the gear on the motor is not worn down.. when you push it, you are pushing the rail over the motor gear to a point where the teeth can again mesh into the motor on the gate..

Thanks for replies - sorry did not get notification of a reply.
Replaced battery for good measure, no change. Motor is definitely not spinning without catching - It's all pretty tight. I cannot lift gate as rail is below the motor gear.
Just to double check, I used the test button the last time to make sure it was nothing to do with the remote trigger, and I can see and hear the switches click, but not much happens. Stupidly I did not think to check voltage to the motor when I did this as I should have isolated whether to board or motor was the issue. The motor itself is pretty old so it would be my guess.

I've never greased or oiled anything. Do I just grease the contact patch between track and motor gear? How do I oil the motor?

Thanks in advance.

You need to go back and check for power to the motor, as you said. Are you certain that the replacement battery is good? These motors are powered by the battery, the mains supply is there only to keep the battery charged. The battery can read over 12 volts but fail under load and not even turn the motor.
