I am a first-time gas heater owner, uses 9KG LPG gas.

Last time I paid R270 at a shell garage in Clubview to fill it up and I think this too expensive :( ...

I heard a friend saying she got a refill for R170 at some midrand place...

Any chance I can get a lower refill rate in Centurion. Help asbf!

Go to the gas company in Jakaranda Street. R174/9kg. You should lodge a complaint against the garage as the price is regulated and they may not charge such a price.

Was the R270 without a canister?

Gas prices are regulated and change with the petrol price. Currently paying 189 in Cape Area

Hmm, where do you get this price in Cape Town?

Blueflame and the one hardware store in Boston likes to charge around R240-280 from what I remember last year.

Check out the gas company in Centurion (near Chamberlains) . Cheapest gas I could find in the area. Petrol stations always try to rip you off.

The maximum retail price of lpg is controlled.
A reseller may sell for less but not for more.
Click on the above link and proceed to page 3. This price Includes vat.
If the reseller is a signed dealer of one the more reputable gas suppliers like Afrox, BP and Easigas, he'll charge a deposit of R171 (R150 + vat) deposit for a cylinder.
"Rogue" dealers and Totalgaz resellers seem to charge what they like; be very wary of them as they also tend to underfill.
This can be easliy checked: The tare weight of the cylinder is stencilled on the cylinder. It's varies from about 12kg. to 16kg.s Add the content of 9kg. and put on a bathroom scale.
