If you can afford to spend R2k+ on a kitchen knife, that would be ideal. Not everyone can though.

Not true. Shop around. I found one for 300 bucks and it's almost my best friend
I've got a full set of Wusthof and I love them.

lol. I know about them - and no not interested in them for now. Need something that will last a while without the hassle of sharpening so ceramics are a better fit for me.Carbon steel is the only kind of kitchen knife you want. Do some research
I would rather sharpen my knife more often and have a razor sharp knife than just a sharp knife. What chopping board are you using?lol. I know about them - and no not interested in them for now. No one mentioned Wustoff? Better than knox, and sharpen beautifully.
There is not a knife or pair of scissors that I cannot destroy within a day.
A plasticy one. What chopping board are you using?
Wanna bet? There are definitely knives that you wouldn't be able to destroy in a monthJust don't know how well they would work in the kitchen

Wanna bet?Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of using kitchen knives for DIY purposes, e.g. use the breadknife to saw off branches or to mix grout. This infuriates my husband.
