I'm planning on getting a cerato koup 2012 model to use it as my transport for work, do you'll think its a good idea, if not which car do you recommend?

That model should have the 2 litre engine so you'll be looking at 9l/100km realistically. You'll be looking at R700 per tank. Parts pricing should give you an idea over here: https://www.kia.co.za/parts

I have a 2010 model (bought new). Currently on 90k km. Only issue I had was having to replace the clutch but that was done under warranty. When it was the "family car", used to average 8l/100km. Now I only it to drive to and from work and get about 10l/100km but that is due to horrible stop start traffic. I think the 2012 has the 6 speed gearbox. I have the 5 speed.

I've looked into getting one of these too. Had a colleague a couple of years ago who had one and enjoyed it. I'd be interested to hear the various opinions here about them...

I have the sedan from 2010. It's still good as new and haven't had a days trouble.

There is a new 2019 Cerato overseas. Not sure if we will get it here though as the Cerato has grown a bit and is now more closely priced to the established brands in SA.
It's quite a nice looking car. Hopefully a Koup will follow as there has been for the last two generations. Imagine it with a i30n engine

Had a 2012 model for a few years in black, 6speed autotronic,best car I ever had..U won't go wrong....

I also always loved the cerato but couldn't get myself to buy one because of how slow it is for such a sporty looking car.

The newer 2014+ model has a 1.6T which is quite nice!
and can be picked up at quite a good price thanks to their bad resale value.

I had one briefly (wrote it off a month after I took delivery) it was a lovely car. I should have got another one instead of the frenchy I did replace it with.

What's the insurance like on the Koup? Are they considered sports cars meaning you need to go purchase a tub of lube before applying?
