Chainsaw attack: Victims become suspects

A woman and her daughter have been charged with murder after surviving a horrific attack with a chainsaw.

Karin Adams and her daughter Tracey Adams, 20, are currently under police guard at a Paarl hospital after Karin's estranged husband stormed into their Jason Adams Street home and attacked them with the power tool.

Neighbours say Christopher Adams pulled up behind Karin's parked car at about 3pm on Thursday, calmly started the chainsaw he had hired earlier that day and attacked his family who were hiding in the house.

But at some point in the frenzy, the seriously injured women managed to disarm Christopher, who ended up dead with multiple stab wounds.

Paarl-East police spokesperson Inspector Diana Fransman says the mom and daughter refuse to tell police the details of what happened inside the house.

"We are still trying to piece together what exactly happened on Thursday afternoon," says Inspector Fransman.

"We have charged both the mother and the daughter with murder.

"They are currently under police guard at hospital and will appear in court as soon as they are discharged."

Karin's neighbour says Christopher was a regular neighbourhood nuisance.

"He would often come stand outside their house and perform," he says.

"Even at Christmas he came here and was shouting and screaming at Karin and making a noise."

Christopher's family, who have not seen him since he married Karin more than two decades ago, have expressed shock at the news of his death.

His older sister says her brother stopped communicating with his family after he married Karin. - Daily Voice

I really don't care what went down inside the house. When a known nutter starts up a chainsaw in the driveway and enters the house with it I can only deduce that he was up to no good.

Pretty much. Hopefully they also have the good sense to take legal advice for saying anything to the police.

For sure.. Somebody starts waiving a chainsaw in my house and they'll probably end up dead. Probably as a result of a chainsaw accident, but ya... Dead I tell you (probably)

Nice, their street name matches their surname

They are probably being pressured into revealing what happened in the house that day. What is the prosecuter supposed to do when 'victims' (we dont know the full story here, so I'm using this word loosely) when there is one person stabbed to death, and witnesses tight-lipped as to what happened? I dont think charging them with obstructing justice will cut it (please excuse the pun) in this case.

They should get legal assistance first before saying anything to the police.
