Anyone with any ideas? I got all my stuff on external usb harddrives and whenever i plug them in, the pc just sits there and stares at me...I dont know what the problem is. Have just reinstalled windows as well, and that did not help at all :(

Help!!

why not from the chaintech website? I have a cnaintech mobo and always get drivers from their site.

They are usually several versions behind the official nVidia releases and tend to orphan their products rather quickly ... when last did you see a driver update on their site for a Socket A motherboard or GeForce FX or older graphics card of theirs ???.

One of the reasons why I still stick to nVidia ... their latest drivers always support their old hardware unlike Creative or ATI and other vendors which is a mix and match and sometimes a crap shoot to get working.

If you go have a look see on the Nvidia site you will see the Nforce 2 drives have not been updated in a while...anyway it was just a suggestion.

I would agree with your "creative" comment but not with NVidia, it is well documented that their new drivers play havoc with older cards such as TNT2 etc. As for ATI...never use their drivers use OMEGA.

Oh another reason why I would look at the drivers on the chaintech site. I dont know about that particular board but I know with mine it does not use the full Nforce 2 specifications and lacks Soundstorm. So if I download the drivers from the nvidia site and forget to uncheck the audio drivers it conflicts with the other sound.

There are several revisions of the nForce2 Southbridge ... the early one came with Soundstorm but the last revision with support for SATA and dual channel DDR did not have it anymore.

My old Socket A board was like that and it worked fine with the nVidia Audio drivers (seperate download) and it supported the onboard Realtek soundchip.

Installed SP1 and the drivers recommended and it has sorted my USB issues. :)

Many thanks Tibby...
