To all the noobs out there. There are two questions I want to ask.

1stly, can it be done ?
2ndly, if yes, how ?

So here is the scenario, we currently have a setup where the HD PVR is sitting in another room and of course the channels are being changed there. We also have SD PVR which are being viewed in another two rooms. One of them is in my room. I want to get an HDMI extender (not sure if correct terminology), but want to watch HD channels in my room. But of course I don't want to get up all the time to change the channels on the HD. So is it possible to connect something so that a person can change channels on the SD and HD PVR's from my room.

1: yes
2:.........

For HD equipment check out www.hdcabling.co.za
You'll need a 1x2 HDMI splitter to get an HD feed to your room
I assume the signal is getting to the rooms via RF cabling at the moment, if so you can use a TV link to change the channels, or you can use a remote blaster

Yeah .. remote blasters ... I have both my decoders in the lounge and can change all channels from my bedroom ..

One word... TVlink... the DStv XtraView manual is available on the DStv forum. There are diagrams for all kinds of installs.

And clearly the channel you change to will also show on the TV the HD PVR is connected to

SHOT, glad to hear that it is possible. Because don't want to get up all the time to change a channel. You know people from the 21st century will look for a remote for hours to change a channel, instead of just chaning the channel on the TV or device
