hey... I have a dynamic ip, as well as some other ip, me thinks is my network ip...(wireless d-link Airplus DWL-G650).

from www.whatismyip.com
Your IP Is 165.145.40.137, 198.54.202.***

the first ip changes often, but the 198.54.202.*** is always the same... Now I wanna know if there is anyway i can make my network ip dynamic, or change it... I tried going to TCP/IP settings, but cant find that 198.54.202.*** ip anywhere... and when in command prompt i type ipconfig/all, i see there are other ip's and stuff, but none like that, so i dont know where to change it...Any help would be appreciated... Coz its as if i have a static ip when browsing the internet, and i dont want that...

Transparent proxy? So you saying theres no way to change it or make it disappear?

kay, will try that... Its just that i found out ppl can track where i live with the ip, coz sum1 did it, and i thought hey, i dont want to keep the same ip, coz then they can use it again in the future and stuff like that... coz when i go on to some websites, it always show that 2nd ip instead of my dynamic one...

165.145.40.137 = dsl-145-40-137.telkomadsl.co.za - looks like you!
198.54.202.1 = wblv-ip-esr-1-fe-1-0-5.telkom-ipnet.co.za - - guessed the "1", is an edge router (esr), you are into Telkom on that range I guess.

As BradDC says - the first is your dynamic IP allocated by Telkom.

seeing that its safe to say, the second one is 198.54.202.146...
So i guess this is the way its gonna be... Whats the point of having a dynamic ip then, when this is the only ip the IE uses? Unless i bypass this proxy or sumting? Soz, but i aint all clued up with computers and stuff...

If you are using a dydns service just make sure that the ip detectiondoes not run on port80 and thus you will not pick up the tranparent proxy

soz, didnt quite get that, lol? Kay, i use mweb adsl, but have no clue wat dydns is... I have seen it in TCP/IP settings, but dont know what it is... Wish i understood though...

In TCP/IP it says "Obtain DNS server settings automatically"... If thats any help...

Dont worry about dyndns... unless u want a pseudo-static IP. DNS is the service that basically gives you the IP address of a url. So u type in "www.google.com" into your browser and the DNS service returns the IP for that domain.

AFAIK the transparent proxy only comes into play when u browse overseas, it does the talking to the webservers for you and www.whatismyip.com (and most websites) will report the proxy's IP.
