I read the following article on the mnet website regarding the Telecommunications issue in South Africa:

Towards the end of the article, I see that changes are only expected by early 2007. The motivation behind this is that Telkom has the monopoly of all the communications hardware in the country (if I'm correct?).
Now... what I'd like to know is what effect has this monopoly over the hardware going to have on the ADSL side of things? When can we expect drastic decreases in prices and increases in quality of service?
