changes to protocol priorities

I've been using ADSL through Telkom ISP for about 10 months now. When I initially signed up there was a package available called ProLog which gave me 3Gb/Month. It appears that they've changed things and now I'm on a package called Advanced (or something like that) which also gives me 3Gb/Month.

Can anybody tell me what has changed from the one package to the other?

I have been reading about protocol prioritization and it says that HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, Mail (POP3 & IMAP), SSH, Telnet have priority. Has this (protocol prioritization) changed from the old package to the new one? Is this what they mean by shaped and unshaped?

The reason that I ask this is that I have a bit of (real time) software that used to work well but is now frequently timing out and losing its connection. I'm trying to establish if this is because the protocol prioritization for this bit of software has changed. I haven't been able to establish what protocol this software (JTrader) uses to communicate with its server.

Any help or a pointer in the right direction would be much appreciated.

I notice that on my August 2004 Telkom Bill the service was described as “TI ADSL ProLog” and on the next bill (September 2004) it is described as “3GB Shaped TIpA Advanced.” They are both priced identically and when I sent Telkom an email they state that the service is identical from one to the other and nothing has changed except the name.

I am suspicious...

Telkom have changed the naming to reflect the different options:

I read on their website somewhere that they suggest the 4GB unshaped service for online trading, since the protocols used are shaped in the other packages.
