They only need to pay you out the compulsory leave days, e.g. the number of compulsory days due to you in the current leave cycle. They do not have to pay out all your accumulated leave.

AFAIK the labor law says accumulated leave. However, I'd always suggest quitting and then taking all the leave up to the calendar month so that you can have a little vacation before starting the new job and leave earlier from the previous place

Surely your leave gets locked down after handing in your resignation?
Yeah, from what i understand, you cant take leave in your notice period.
However, some companies dont mind, since it saves them paying you out, and in some positions you generally sit and do nothing your last few days anyways

Yes in some company once you resign you will not be paid for any leave. so once you decide to resign you have to finish all the leave and then give the resignation. This thing happened to my Brother-in-law, though he asked them previously , he was not having that much time b/w resignation and joining so got to take only some leave and he was not paid for the remaining.
