Changing password on Windows domain

what is the reason you are not logging into the domain ? are the users locked down then?
do your users need local admin rights?

If they have saved the domain password for any servers/shares:

Control Panel > User Accounts > (click account) > Manage my network passwords
Start > Run > control userpasswords2 > Advanced > Manage passwords

select a server in the domain > Properties > To change your domain password: Change...

^ that should work

How do you deliver the password expiration notification to your users without them being on a domain?

Hi, its never a good idea to run SCADA applications on the managed network. You should try to place the OP’s on a V-Lan or distribute your HMI apps via Wonderware’s roll out tool. You can then use Windows XPE or CE based units for the application. If you use it on the clients network then only use the copper, give the op a static ip (this also helps for remote support) and do not register on the domain.

The quickest solution is to make it a service account with a static password.

I won’t mind having a look at it, but I must be honest here, you might consider me to be competition, as I also do scada and plc development, mainly in the food and beverage industry. If you still wish to send me the app, I would appreciate it. Ill pm you my e-imail.

BUMP
Sorry but I don’t get why you cannot just leave the windows passwords as is? The operator level passwords are set in the wonderware application, so not renewing the windows password should have no ill affect. We normally just put biometric scanners on the op’s, that why you can have different level authorization for different users…… just a thought.

Ja, some clients….. I don’t see the use of locking down a OP especially if it resides on its own v-lan, but the client is always right. Just for interest (OT), you are obviously using Intouch 10, but are you also using the “roll out” tool to export your application or parts thereof f to CE based operator panels?
