Hi all,

Apologies if this is somewhere in the stickies.

I got an iPad 1. I run it on a wi-fi / 3G connection through our company APN, wi-fi during the day and 3G at home.

On 3G I can access internal sites but am unable to browse external sites. Our IS desk advised me to change the settings on my browser to run through the proxy, but i cannot find that setting anywhere on Safari.

Wi-Fi works fine, so when i'm at work i have no problem, but outside of that on the dial up connection becomes a prob.

I can change APN's and browse externally on the public APN but its a pain in the butt to have to change the whole time.

Would appreciate input as i'm not really an expert on this.

Tricky one. For WiFi you dont change proxy settings through Safari. You click on Settings>Wifi>Click the blue arrow to the right of your Wifi connection>Click on "Manual" next to HTTP proxy and enter it.

For 3G im not quite sure where you would change this other than through a configuration file.

You can also disable the APN altogether on the Ipad but you will lose "vpn" connectivity and would have to renable it to browse the intranet etc. If the sim card is provisioned not to break through to your ISP's internet then you are forced to browse through a proxy unfortunately.

You can also try going to Settings>General>Network>VPN select your custom VPN connection if you have one there and enter your proxy settings there.

What do you have entered under Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data Network?
